Run slicers at runtime
If you see a lightning bolt icon on your Hamburger Menu, your slicer icon, or on a custom button with a jump action, the values from one or more of your slicers have been changed but that change has not been automatically applied to your presentation. You can manually apply your slicer selections by clicking a button with a Run Slicers "Jump Action" or using the Run Slicers option on either the Present runtime menu or the right-click context menu.
Typically, this behavior has been configured to allow the runtime user to change multiple slicer values, and then only apply their selections once they are happy with all their changes.
Note: The Auto Run setting that results in this behavior is configured in Present Pro either when slicers are created using the Advanced Slicer wizard or edited in Slicer Settings.
Runtime effects
By default, Auto Run is enabled for all slicers. This means that, when you select options from your slicers at runtime, they filter any visuals or dynamic assets they have interactions with without you having to run the slicers manually.
Where Auto Run has been disabled for a slicer in Slicer Settings, selecting a different slice or enabling / disabling the slicer at runtime does not prompt any change to the visuals or dynamic assets. As you can see in the following example, disabling the Country slicer (green arrow) does not cause the filter to be cleared from our Sales by Promotion Category visual, which continues to be filtered by "United Kingdom" (purple arrow) despite our change:
The lightning bolt icons indicate that a change has been made but not yet applied:
- Where it appears on the Hamburger Menu or Button, it indicates that one or more slicers have been updated but have not yet been run. Whether or not to show the lightning bolt icon on the button is subject to configuration.
- Where it appears on a slicer itself, it indicates that specific slicer has not yet been run.
You can manually run the slicers by clicking Run Slicers in the Present runtime menu or on the right-click context menu, or by clicking any "button" that has been created with a Run Slicer Jump Action.
Running the slicer applies the expected filters to the visuals and removes the lightning bolt icons:
Manually running slicers
The following steps describe how to manually run slicers that do not have Auto Run enabled.

If you want to manually run your slicers from the Present runtime menu:
- Click the hamburger menu. This is typically at the top-left corner of each slide (green arrow) and should have a lightning bolt logo if you have slicers that you need to run manually (purple highlight).
- Click Run Slicers (orange arrow above).
The Present runtime menu opens to the left of the page.
Note that this option is only enabled where your slicers have Auto Run disabled and there are outstanding changes to your slicer selections.
The relevant slicers are run.

If you want to manually run your slicers from the right-click context menu:
- Right-click anywhere on your presentation background.
- If it is enabled on the menu, click Run Slicers (blue arrow).
The context menu opens:
The relevant slicers are run.

If you want to manually run your slicers from a custom Jump Action button:
- Click the custom button on your slide.
Tip: Your jump action "button" might be a shape, image, or text field. The button may or may not show a lightning bolt indicator when you need to manually run the slicers (this is a configuration option on the Jump Action).
The relevant slicers are run.
