Migration Wizard
The Migration Wizard enables you to copy (migrate) content items and folders from one Pyramid server to another. The wizard allows you to select multiple content items, related content items, and content folders to another Pyramid environment. This offers a convenient alternative to exporting and importing items individually.
The Migration wizard can be accessed via the Actions Panel or via the item's context menu; it presents the user with a simple point-and-click wizard. In order to migrate content to another server, the destination server must first be set from the Admin console.
Use Case
The Migration Wizard is a convenient and quick way to copy multiple content items from their current Pyramid server to another one. For instance, you may have a test environment and a production environment.
Say that you've created some content items in the test environment and you want to use them in the production environment. Rather than exporting each content item from the test environment and importing each one to the production environment, you can simply select the relevant items and migrate them directly to the production environment via the Migration Wizard.
How to Migrate Content
Select Content Items
Start by selecting the content item(s) that you want to migrate; open the items Actions Panel and go to the Migration Wizard tab. You can select multiple content items by Ctrl + selecting either before or after opening the Migration Wizard (indicated by the blue arrow below).
In this example, three content items (yellow arrows) were selected. The selected items, and their related content items (see below for details) are listed under Selected Items.
Migrate Related Content
By default, the content items related to the selected item will also be migrated. For instance, if you select a presentation, all the data discoveries within the presentation will also be migrated, along with any custom logic that was used to build those data discoveries.
In sum circumstances you may not want to migrate related content items. For example, you may be migrating a data discovery that was build using a custom formula. However, if you've built custom logic in the destination server that you's rather use in the data discovery. In this case, deselect the 'Migrate related content' option (red highlight above).
Maintain Folder Structure
If you are migrating a folder, you can enable the 'Maintain folder structure' option (green highlight above) to maintain the structure of sub-folders within the selected folder in the destination server.
Select a Destination Server
Open the drop-down menu under 'Migrate To'. The drop-down displays a list of Pyramid servers that have been configured as a migration destination from the Admin console.
Select Destination Folder Location
Once you've selected the destination server, the content folder tree will appear below it (red highlight below); the folders are displayed according to the user that was set for the migration destination.
Find and select the folder location to which you want to migrate your content items, then click the green Apply button.
