Publish Interface Differences
Pyramid offers multiple apps and tools (aka "modalities") for accessing Publish, with varying degrees of functionality and sophistication. These configurations and options are typically orchestrated by system administrators, who ensure the right app is allocated to the right user at the right time.
Licenses and Profiles
When an administrator assigns a profile to a user, the profile indicates which app the user is granted access to (Publish Pro or Publish Lite) and indicates the options that should be granted in that app when the user logs on. For example, whether the user should be granted all features in Publish Pro or not.

Combinations
Using the preceding matrix, the following example user deployments are possible (there are numerous permutations):
- A pro user, with authoring rights using the Publish Lite interface rather than the full Publish Pro tool set.
- A pro user, with authoring rights using the Smart Publish tools only in the Publication builder.
