Presentation Slicers

Slicers are used to filter data visualizations in data discoveries and presentations. If a content item contains a slicer, you can select value from it in order to filter the visuals driven by it. The selected slices are displayed in the breadcrumb trail of the affected visuals.

Enable and Disable Slicers

Slicers may be enabled or disabled by toggling the funnel icon; when enabled, the visual is filtered according to the currently selected slice. When disabled, the slicer does not affect the visual.

Breadcrumbs

When the slicer is enabled, the current slicer selection will be displayed in the breadcrumb trail. In the example below, we see the slicer selections in the breadcrumb trail of both its target visuals:

Hidden Slicers

Depending on the design choices of the presentation author, slicers may appear on the presentation canvas, or they may be hidden. Hidden slicers are often used to connect a slicer with multiple visuals and dynamic assets (text and infographics) across different slides. They can be accessed from the Presentation Menu.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks allow you to save multiple slicer selections in a presentation. You can then select the required bookmark for the presentation to load the given slicer selections across the presentation, rather than manually changing each of the slicers.

You can save multiple bookmarks pointing to different combinations of slicer selections. Bookmarks are not shareable and will only be seen by the current user
