Model Metadata and Trees

The panels on the right display the Dimensions, Elements, and Measures Trees. These trees expose the structures stored in the chosen data model; these structures are often referred to as metadata, and it is this metadata that the user selects in order to build queries in Discover Lite. In Pyramid, these structures are displayed in tree-format in 3 different panels: dimensions/ hierarchies, elements, and measures.

Dimensions/ Hierarchies

  • The Dimensions/ Hierarchies tree contains the data model's dimensions, hierarchies and attributes, which correspond to tables and columns found in the data source.

  • Elements

The Elements Tree exposes the individual member elements contained within hierarchies or attributes.

    Measures

The Measure Tree (blue highlight) exposes the data model's values or measures, which are used to populate the visualization with quantitative data.
