Formatting and Design in Publish Pro
Publish Pro offers a range of formatting and design tools to help you customize the look and feel of your publications. Remember, you are producing documents that are full of analytic information and other helpful content, so applying branding and styles makes them look professional, shows a reassuring consistency, and makes sure your readers know they are from you.
Important: Not all outputs use all or indeed any of the formatting options. Only PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, XML, and HTML apply most of the formatting options.
Themes and Masters
Themes are design templates that drive the colors and styles in your publication pages, visual panels, and so on. Masters (associated with your theme) determine the layout content of every page; that your corporate logo is always seen at the top-left of your pages or that all footers include a page number and link to your website. By applying a given theme to your publication, you can change its entire look and feel. Themes and their masters can be used to standardize publication design across an organization or department.

Page Size and Orientation
All publications have a page size (A4, letter, and so on) and page orientation (landscape or portrait) that apply to every page of both the document that you are editing in Publish Pro and (where applicable) to the published document created from that.

Content Formatting
There are lots of options for setting the formatting preferences for your content items (text, shapes, visuals, and so on) in Publish Pro. You can change the formatting of these content items by selecting items on the canvas, moving and resizing them manually, and using the options from the Component ribbon and the Formatting panel to change features like colors, borders, legends, axes, titles, and more.

Formatting Panel
To improve the appearance and readability of your publications and publications, you can change the formatting of the panels (or "frames") that contain each of your visuals. These formatting options determine the panel's general look and feel (shadow, title font, and so on) as well as the formatting of its title and subtitle.

Tip: The formatting options shown in this panel are typically associated with your visualization type. For more information about the settings, see Formatting Panel in Discover Pro in the Discover help. The Settings that are specific to publications relate to its panel or frame. For more information, see Caption Settings in Publish Pro.
