Running presentations

You can launch your presentation "at runtime" to check its content and to interact with it; checking your design, navigating through the slides, dynamically interacting with the presentation's content by selecting and filtering it, making use of the panel tools to change and save your changes, and so on. Existing presentations, created in Present Lite or Present Pro and saved to the database, and can be viewed at runtime from the Content Manager, your Pyramid home page, or, if you currently have the presentation itself open, using the Run options in Present.

Run from explorer-style views

You can run or view your presentations from any lists of content items that appear in the explorer-style views of the Content Manager or your Home Page.

To go to the explorer-style views from the App Toolbox:

  • Click the Content Explorer icon (blue arrow, above) to open the Content Manager. Alternatively, you may have an Existing Content panel on your home page where you can open the Content Explorer or other Content Manager options (favorite items, recommended items, and recent items).
  • Click the Home icon at the bottom left of any page (yellow arrow), to open your Home Page.

Note: If you open the home page and see a Quick Start panel in the middle of the page, you can click either Go to My Hub or clear the Show next time checkbox to close the panel to jump to your home page.
Your home page is highly configurable, both by your administrator and by yourself, and may or may not include any explorer-style list views as described here.

Context Menu

Wherever you see an explorer-style list of content items (from your Home Page or in the Content Explorer), you can run any presentations on the list using the right-click context menu:

To run the presentation, click View from one of the following locations:

  • Right-click the Ellipsis (...) and select View from the menu (green arrow).
  • If the presentations are shown as a list (details or content view), right-click anywhere in the row representing the presentation (snapshot, name, or any other value) and select View from the menu.
  • If the presentations are shown as tiles, right-click anywhere in the name panel and select View from the menu.

Tip: You can change which type of list is used for a panel using the view options to the panel's top-right (purple highlight).

Home Page

From the Home Page, you can run the presentation by double-clicking anywhere in the row or on the tile that represents your selected presentation (blue arrow, above).

Run an open presentation

If you have a presentation open in Present Pro or Present Lite, you can view it using the "run" options in Present:

Run button

The large Run (or execute) button appears in the upper-left corner of the workspace (yellow arrow, above). Clicking this option in either Present Pro or Present Lite launches the current presentation, with the currently selected slide open in the first instance.

Note: Pressing F2 on a keyboard runs the same function as clicking the large run button.

Run from beginning

Present Pro users can also run the presentation beginning with the first slide. The first slide is either the presentation cover or the first slide in the presentation:

Runtime activities

Once you have the runtime version of your presentation open, you can interact with it as any viewer would be able to. Moving between the pages using navigation, interacting with visuals, and otherwise exploring and making sense of the data that you are presenting to your viewers.
