Tooltip Presentations

The tooltip presentation layout is used to create a streamlined presentation that is optimized for use as a visual tooltip.

Customized visual tooltips are created from the Actions panel in Discover and Present. These tooltip actions produce a tooltip containing a data discovery or presentation. The tooltip opens when hovering over the given measures in the selected query in Discover or Present.

While you can use any presentation layout in a tooltip action, the Tooltip layout is optimal for this purpose; it doesn't include navigation, runtime menus, or master pages.

Create a Tooltip Presentation

To create a tooltip presentation, start by selecting Tooltip (blue highlight below) as the layout for your new presentation:

The presentation will open in edit mode and you can add content to the canvas as usual.

Adjust the presentation size form the Canvas Size button (blue highlight below); the maximum size for a tooltip presentation is 500 x 500 pixels.

Arrange and resize the content items as needed. To be able to point to this presentation from the tooltip action, you must create a target to the presentation's content items. The name of this target will need to be input in the tooltip action later.
